Full Circle Grief Center is excited to welcome board member Jason Owen into his new role as Board Chair beginning this year. Jason has served on the board of Full Circle since 2021, and brings over 25 years of executive logistics experience, a passion for the mission, and a personal connection to our work to the position of Board Chair.
Jason has lived in the Richmond area for over twenty years, currently serving as Vice President of Enterprise Accounts at UPS, (“The ones with the brown trucks that rarely make left hand turns,” he adds). The Owen family includes his wife, Joy, three daughters, two of whom are still living, Grace (18) and Jane (11), as well as their goldendoodle, Finn.
In 2011, the Owen family lost their daughter, Tessa, at full-term stillbirth due to an umbilical cord abnormality. After searching for a nonprofit board opportunity that would help them give back to the community in honor of Tessa, Jason learned about Full Circle from the board concierge service at Leadership Metro Richmond (LMR). He recalls that the fit was, in his mind, perfect.
Jason views Full Circle as “a warm, safe place where it’s okay to not be okay,” and holds a special place in his heart for our perinatal loss practice because of their grief journey following the loss of Tessa. “While no two experiences with grief are the same,” Jason adds, “I hope to somehow help others, especially fathers, be better equipped to support their families with similar circumstances.”
Over the next year as Board Chair, Jason sees opportunities for Full Circle that include ensuring that the Richmond community understands the value of what Full Circle does differently, and as Jason might argue, “I believe does better!” than anyone else. He also looks forward to enabling Full Circle’s ability to better serve the unmet demand for grief services in Virginia, growing our spheres of influence to better include men who are grieving, as well as diversifying our revenue streams.
Outside of his professional work, Jason can be found spending time with his daughters and family, or doing anything outdoors, like fishing, golfing, or gardening. He can also be found in regular attendance at several Full Circle events, as both an enthusiastic supporter of our mission, and now, in his official role as Board Chair. Welcome, Jason!
