Individual Counseling FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions for Individual Counseling

Our services include one-on-one, couple, and family counseling to expand our reach and ensures that children and adults have a spectrum of grief support. Our individual counseling services are offered to anyone in the community. We believe individual counseling can be a complementary service to our groups, but it may be the preferred choice instead of group work.

Where does counseling take place?
Individual counseling services are held in person as well as virtually. In person services are held at our Full Circle Grief Center, located at 10611 Patterson Avenue, Building #201, Richmond VA 23238. We have offices at Suite #201 (Middle Level) and Suite #101 (Lower Level). Our main offices, including front desk and lobby, are located at Suite #201, but group sessions and some counseling appointments are located at Suite #101 (Lower Level). If you are visiting Full Circle for the first time, please come to Suite #201, the entrance closest to Pump Road with the numbers “201” above the door.

What are the specialties of the practice?
Full Circle provides individual, couple, and family counseling services for children and adults dealing with grief due to the death of someone significant, traumatic grief (such as homicide, suicide, perinatal or child loss, traumatic accident, etc.), and anticipatory grief (grief associated with a life-threatening or terminal illness).

Who can utilize the individual counseling services?
Our individual counseling services are offered to anyone in the state of Virginia. It is the policy of Full Circle to not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation or disability when providing services.

What ages can seek individual counseling services?
Individual counseling is offered for children (ages 3-17) and adults.

Do you offer couples counseling?
Yes, couples and family counseling services are available upon request. These services are offered on a self-pay basis. Please note our appointment availability for couples is limited.

Can I meet with my therapist virtually?
Yes, videoconferencing (often called virtual or telehealth appointments) is made available through Ensora Health, a HIPAA compliant site. All data is encrypted and stored securely using Amazon Web Services. This option is available to those age 12 and above (as appropriate). Those participating in video sessions must be in the state of Virginia.

What is the cost for individual counseling? What forms of payment do you accept?
For Individual Counseling Services, our fee for 45-minute individual counseling services is $125 per session. We have therapists who accept the following insurances and EAPS:
Aetna
Anthem, Blue Cross/Blue Shield
Cigna, Evernorth
Sentara (formerly Optima)

The reduced self-pay rate of $85 per individual session is offered to ensure our services are accessible by anyone. Additional financial assistance is available to those who qualify (based on household income). Beginning January 1, 2026, our self-pay rate will be increasing to $95 for individual appointments.

For Couples and Family Counseling Services, our fee for 60-minute couple and/or family counseling sessions is $110 per session on a self-pay basis only. We do not currently accept insurance for our couple and family services. Additional financial assistance is available to those who qualify.
We accept credit cards, cash, check, and HSA. Beginning January 1, 2026, our self-pay rate will be increasing to $120 for family and couple appointments.

Do you accept insurance?
We accept insurance for individual services only. Many of our therapists accept Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, and Sentara (formerly Optima). We hope to continue expanding both our availability and carriers. We can provide superbills to anyone interested in filing for out of network coverage from your insurance carriers if not included on the list above. Please check back for updates. Please note, we do not accept any Medicare or Medicaid policies, including supplemental products offered from the companies listed above. To determine mental health coverage through your insurance, we encourage you to call your member services number on the back of your card.

Will I be charged if I can’t make or miss my appointment?
Scheduling an appointment is a commitment that both therapists and clients honor. Appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled if 24 hours notice is provided. Please notify your therapist to cancel your appointment. If sessions are cancelled or rescheduled with less than the required notice, or if a client misses a session, the client agrees to pay a $50 fee for that session, which is not covered by insurance.

What if we cannot afford to pay for these services?
If you find yourself in this position, please call us to discuss options.

How do I request a Good Faith Estimate?
All self pay clients have the right to a Good Faith Estimate. Please click here for more information.
