Group Grief Consultations & Support

Full Circle Grief Center offers community-based grief debriefings and consultations to support a school, corporation, or organization after the death of a colleague, student, teammate or other member of their community. We provide a personalized approach to grief support, working to understand the organization’s current needs and offering a place of acceptance to process the death of a community member and discuss the challenges of such a loss.

Often schools, corporations, sports teams, nonprofits, or other organizations find themselves in a position where they need to support their community through a death. Many feel ill-prepared to carry out this task or must focus their time on supporting their community and need assistance process the grief and trauma of the event. Full Circle Grief Center’s experienced grief professionals can offer support to the organization in a variety of ways during this time of grief and loss.

Goals

  • Offer a safe, supportive space for individuals to express initial reactions, emotions, and concerns following a sudden death
  • Normalize common grief and trauma reactions (emotional, physical, cognitive, behavioral) so participants understand their experiences are natural responses to a traumatic event
  • Reduce acute distress by helping participants begin to regulate overwhelming emotions, lower distress, and prevent feelings of isolation through shared discussion and supportive guidance
  • Introduce grounding techniques, stress management strategies, and self-care practices to stabilize in the immediate aftermath
  • Allow participants to share personal experiences of the loss, honor the deceased, and process the suddenness of the event in a supportive environment
  • Assess participants at heightened risk of trauma responses, or suicidal thoughts, and connect them with appropriate follow-up counseling or crisis resources

Facilitation

During this group consultation, a member of our professional clinical staff with extensive background in mental health and grief counseling will work with a team, group, or organization to provide support in the following ways:

  • Group Grief Consultations – Providing a safe place to process the loss, discuss “normal” grief reactions, and honor the deceased, with in-person preferred and virtual options available.
  • Office Hours – Provide office hours at the organization’s location for individuals to process the loss, gather grief resources, ask questions, or seek generalized grief and loss support.
  • Short-term Individual Counseling – Short-term 1:1 grief counseling for members of the group either virtually or in-person at our office in Henrico, Virginia.
